Provider Profile
KC Psychiatry was founded by Renee Salomone, PMHNP
Renee is a BIPOC provider, based in Portland, Oregon, who graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, Kentucky. Preferred pronouns are she/her and her practice is LGBTQ+ friendly. Her professional background includes psychiatric care across the lifespan in rural and underserved communities, a certification in medical-surgical nursing knowledge, and extensive nursing experience providing care for adult and geriatric populations in various outpatient and inpatient settings.
Renee engages with other psychiatric providers and family practice physicians, attends informational conferences, listens to psychiatry podcasts, and is an avid believer of life-long learning. Her passion for improving the availability and quality of psychiatric services for older adults is supported by numerous interdisciplinary connections. In order to address the unique and complex challenges in a growing population of older adults, comprehensive care and collaboration with other disciplines is essential.
At KC Psychiatry, medication management is coupled with holistic medicine and brief therapy. The therapy provided during visits typically consists of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), with small amounts of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and solutions-focused brief therapy (SFBT).
For self-care, Renee enjoys painting, singing, activities in nature, and spending time with her spouse, cat, and loved ones.
