Provider Profile
Kohola Care Psychiatry was founded in 2025 by Renee Salomone, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Renee is a BIPOC provider, based in Portland, Oregon, who graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University (FNU - Versailles, KY). Reneeβs preferred pronouns are she/her and her practice is LGBTQ+ friendly. Her professional background includes psychiatric care across the lifespan (ages 6 and up) in rural and underserved communities, a certification in medical-surgical nursing knowledge, and extensive nursing experience providing care in various outpatient and inpatient settings. She has enjoyed working with students, interns, and new hires over the years.
Renee engages with other psychiatric providers and family practice physicians, attends informational conferences, listens to psychiatry podcasts, and is an avid believer of life-long learning. Her passion for improving the availability and quality of psychiatric services for high-need populations - such as the geriatric population - is supported by numerous interdisciplinary connections. In order to address the unique and complex challenges of high-need populations and a growing population of older adults, comprehensive care and collaboration with other disciplines is essential.
At Kohola Care Psychiatry, medication management is coupled with holistic medicine and brief therapy. The therapy provided during visits typically consists of trauma-informed care and the following therapy modalities:
cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
solutions-focused brief therapy (SFBT)
I highly encourage clients to seek an individual therapist or another resource for psychotherapy needs that exceed a brief intervention. I can offer assistance in connecting clients with available resources.
For self-care, Renee enjoys painting, singing, activities in nature, and spending time with her spouse, cat, and loved ones.
