Koholā in Hawaiian language can mean ‘reef flat’ or ‘humpback whale.’
In association with this practice, koholā is humpback whale.
The koholā was believed to be a manifestation of the god of the ocean, Kanaloa, and is said to be responsible in helping the Polynesians discover the Hawaiian Islands at the start of it all.
As humpback whales are revered as divine beings and spiritual protectors to specific families. The name Koholā Care Psychiatry was inspired by the founder’s love for humpback whales and Polynesian culture.
In this practice, providers will strive to protect clients and families and help them discover a place of peace, that is centered and grounded in the present.
Fun fact: The founder, Renee, spent five years of her childhood living on the island of Oahu. Local Hawaiians provided her some early teachings that live on in her practice today and hold a special place in her heart.
